Community Foundation Awards Scholarships to Local Students

The Washington County Community Foundation has awarded over $15,000 in scholarships to area students for the upcoming academic year. The Columbus, Vera and Morris Jones Memorial Scholarship and the M.C. Hess and Margaret Hess Boyle Educational Fund for Washington County Scholarship. These scholarships are for seniors graduating or graduates from Washington County.

  • Columbus, Vera, and Morris Jones Memorial Scholarship is for seniors from Washington County High School with preference given to students who are not at the top of their class & students who plan to attend Kansas State University. Destyni Christenson of Haddam, KS is the recipient.
  • M.C. Hess and Margaret Hess Boyle Educational Fund for Washington County Scholarship is for graduates or qualifying seniors from Washington County, KS, preference is given to applicants from the Mahaska, Haddam, & Morrowville areas. McKenzie Baker and Makenna Elliott of Morrowville, KS, Joree Bentz and Alyssa Jueneman of Washington, KS, Elizabeth Olson of Palmer, Gillian Minge of Haddam, KS and Azul Saenz of Linn, KS are the recipients.
