Washington County Community Foundation awards over $24,000 in spring grants
During its spring grant cycle, the Washington County Community Foundation awarded over $24,000 to 15 projects throughout Washington County. The following organizations received funding:
- Pawnee Mental Health Services, Inc., $1,000 to support themed art classes designed to support healing, self-expression, & connection.
- City of Mahaska, $1,000 to upgrade two community outdoor play areas.
- Clifton Public Library, $850 to fund summer reading program.
- Washington County Ministerial Association, $4,970 to replace flooring in the Friendly Corners Resource Center.
- Hanover Chamber of Commerce, $2,650 to improve drainage around the area used for Days of 49 Celebration.
- Haddam Community Club, Inc., $1,110 to prep & paint park equipment & miscellaneous repairs.
- City of Washington, $1,626.75 to purchase binder lift devices for ambulances.
- City of Greenleaf, $1,420 to aid in replacement of Greenleaf Community Clubhouse windows.
- USD 223, $1,500 to purchase plyo boxes to be used for strength & conditioning programs.
- St. Johns School, $1,850 to aid in updates to the school playground.
- Washington County Fair Association, $805 to purchase outdoor table
- Barnes Lions Club, $530 to update Welcome to Barnes sign
- City of Hanover, $1,960 to purchase smoke & carbon monoxide detectors to provide to Hanover community members.
- City of Clifton, $1,427.61 to fund pool supplies.
- American Legion Post 235, $2,000 to aid in purchase of the A/C condenser.
This round of grants was made possible by the community foundation’s Opportunity Fund, which supports the quality of life for Washington County, the Clifton Community Fund which supports current & future needs in the Clifton community, the Hanover Fund which supports the current and future needs of the Hanover community, and the Buckshot & Christine Buchanan Donor Advised Fund.
